Armidale is the largest city in the Northern Tablelands. It is located in a region of great natural beauty with large gorges and waterfalls. To the west of Sydney are the Blue Mountains, one of the most stunning natural environments in the world with towering sandstone cliffs descending into broaded densely-forested valleys. These provide many enjoyable bushwalks, camping and many jobs. Katoomba, the largest town in the Blue Mountains, is 2 hours from Sydney by train or even less time by car.
